About The GeekArtist
Get to know a little about me
My name is Janice Schwarz and I have been designing web sites professionally since 2000. I learned web design back when everyone taught hemselves how this stuff worked and before they offered college degrees in web design. I have since received XHTML, HTML & CSS certification from W3Schools, an organization working to provide certification for Webmasters working with W3C standards.
I've also spent several years doing tech support and software instruction. I love to teach and continue to offer those services. I've worked for years teaching in individual homes and businesses. I've taught at
- University of Texas at Austin Adult Education on behalf of The Wizard of Austin
- Kerrville Independent School District Adult Continuing Education
- Deitert Senior Center, Kerrville, TX
I love watching those "AHA!" moments as students grasp those subjects they've been struggling with.
Web design is a field I am passionate about, because I can balance my fascination with technology with my love of art. Also, I find the Internet to be an incredibly useful tool for business, and a source of great fun.
Increasingly, people are turning to the web for business, games, knowledge, shopping, communication, and more. Growing numbers of people want to see a web site before they will work with a business or non-profit. I enjoy the satisfaction of helping a business or non-profit draw new customers and share information using the Internet. This is a constantly changing and growing field and I love keeping up with the new information.
I have strong beliefs as to what should and should not be done to create a successful web site. To that end, GeekArtist Web Design creates web sites focusing on:
- Custom site design reflecting your businesses identity.
- Your target customer demographic.
- Ease of customer navigation through the web site.
- Web sites viewable on many computers and browsers.
- Accessibility for all surfers that come to your site.
- Fast loading web site so surfers actually SEE your web site.
Because I love web design so much, I even make web sites for fun. To see a sample of sites I've created over the past 7 years, see my portfolio.
